Deep Tissue & Trigger Point Therapy

Two Days of Hands-On Learning to Deepen Your Skills, Build Confidence & Transform Your Massage Practice

Trigger Point Therapy • Deep Tissue Massage • Referred Pain Patterns • Therapeutic Stretching

2-Day Practical Intensive | 18 Hours of Professional Development

Take your massage skills beyond the basics

There comes a point in every massage therapist's journey when you want to understand more.

You can feel the tension beneath your hands. You know where your client is holding discomfort. But you want to develop a deeper understanding of why that tension is there, how different areas of the body influence one another, and which techniques will make the greatest difference.

That's where this training comes in.

Our two-day Deep Tissue & Trigger Point Therapy Intensive is designed for massage therapists who already have a foundation in Swedish massage and are ready to expand their skills, refine their touch and develop greater confidence working with muscular tension, discomfort and restricted movement.

This is a wonderfully practical weekend of learning, exploring and working with the body.

You'll spend plenty of time on the massage tables, both giving and receiving treatments, discovering how subtle changes in pressure, positioning, technique and intention can make an enormous difference.

My goal is not simply to teach you more techniques. It's to help you become a more thoughtful, skilled and confident therapist.

What we'll explore together

Trigger Point Therapy

Learn how to locate and work with sensitive trigger points within the muscles, understand their relationship with referred pain and develop effective, considered treatment techniques.

Deep Tissue Massage

Discover how to work with deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using controlled pressure, thoughtful body mechanics and precise techniques — without relying on force or exhausting your own body.

Understanding Referred Pain

Explore common referred pain patterns and begin recognising how the source of a client's discomfort may be different from where they actually feel the pain.

Therapeutic Stretching

Learn practical stretching techniques that complement your massage work, support mobility and give your clients useful ways to continue caring for their bodies between appointments.

Bringing It All Together

Perhaps most importantly, we'll explore how to combine these skills into a flowing, purposeful massage treatment.

You'll develop a greater understanding of when to use different techniques, when to modify your approach and how to respond to what you're feeling beneath your hands.

Learning through your hands

I've been working with bodies and teaching massage for more than 30 years, and one thing I know for certain is that you cannot learn great massage simply by watching someone else do it.

You need to feel it.

You need to practise, ask questions, experiment with different techniques and receive feedback.

That's why our training is deliberately hands-on.

We'll work in a small, supportive group where there's plenty of opportunity for individual guidance, technique correction and shared learning.

You'll practise with fellow students throughout the weekend, experiencing the techniques from both sides of the massage table.

And you'll have the freedom to choose who you partner with, so you can feel comfortable and supported in your learning.

I love watching that moment when a student suddenly understands something through their hands. When a technique clicks, their confidence grows, and they realise just how much more they can offer their clients.

Those are the moments that make teaching so rewarding for me.

Who is this training for?

This workshop is ideal for:

  • Massage therapists with foundational Swedish massage skills who are ready to progress

  • Practitioners wanting to expand their remedial and deep tissue techniques

  • Therapists returning to massage who would love to refresh their skills and confidence

  • Bodyworkers wanting a greater understanding of muscular tension, trigger points and referred pain

  • Therapists who simply love learning and want to keep growing in their practice

You don't need to be an experienced remedial therapist to attend, but a foundation in Swedish massage is essential so you can comfortably participate in the practical training.

What you'll take away

By the end of our weekend together, you'll have:

  • A broader toolkit of deep tissue and trigger point techniques

  • Greater confidence identifying and working with muscular tension

  • A better understanding of common referred pain patterns

  • Practical stretching techniques to incorporate into your treatments

  • Improved awareness of pressure, body mechanics and safe, effective technique

  • New ideas and skills you can begin integrating into your massage practice

And hopefully, you'll leave feeling inspired, energised and excited to get back to your massage table.

Because becoming a great therapist is a lifelong journey of learning.

A little Body Riches tradition...

One of the things I love about our training weekends is the wonderful mix of people who come together.

We share knowledge, stories, laughter and plenty of hands-on practice.

And, of course, there's our shared lunch in the garden courtyard.

Please bring a plate of food to contribute. It's a lovely opportunity to relax, connect with other therapists and enjoy the sense of community that has always been such an important part of Body Riches.

A note about practical participation

This is a hands-on training weekend, and students will both give and receive massage as part of their learning.

You'll work with other students throughout the course, with the opportunity to choose your practice partners.

By enrolling, you acknowledge that practical partner work forms part of the training. All massage practice is conducted with mutual consent, appropriate draping and respect for individual comfort and boundaries.

Our small-group environment is designed to be welcoming, respectful and supportive for everyone.

Come and learn with us

Whether you're looking to deepen your existing skills, develop more confidence in your hands or simply reignite your love of massage, I'd be delighted to welcome you.

Two days of learning, practising, connecting and growing as a therapist.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with you.
